The second victim’s account details the sexual harassment at the
hands of Leo Niehorster-Cook, leader of Kansas University’s Young
DSA chapter. He would do things like intensely stare at the victim
often, follow her, find accidental reasons to touch her, and when
she would rebuff his advances he would bombard her with messages and
even wait outside her apartment. She described him as “a predator
with no respect for anyone or anything but [his] own self-interest.”

Leo. The first time I met you, I was overcome with the urge to run.
You sat across from me and leaned uncomfortably close; you held eye
contact where I broke it, talked over me and swallowed everything I
had to say whole. I remember texting my partner at the time that he
should call me in thirty minutes so I would have a reason to leave.
It is a discomfort I have felt many times, yet rarely feel in
public. And with you, I felt it magnified instantly.

You have no respect for boundaries, Leo. Every “no” to one event is
a “yes” to another.

Nassar, 57, is serving a 40-to-174-year state prison sentence after
156 women and girls said he sexually abused them over the course of
20 years.

The former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor
pleaded guilty in November 2017 to seven counts of criminal sexual
conduct for using his profession as a cover to sexually abuse his
patients. Nassar also pleaded guilty to federal child pornography
charges and separate state criminal sexual conduct charges.

The FBI acknowledged the gross failures in the report, saying, “This
should not have happened. The FBI will never lose sight of the harm
that Nassar’s abuse caused.
